NEW ASSESSORS INCREASE SKILLS

London 2015

Early December 2015 saw an ABA International event held this time near London - Great Britain. Co-hosted by Crawley Borough Council and supported by County Tree Surgeons the event was a great success. Over 30 participants were involved in a variety of skills activities during the 5 day event. This included training in European chainsaw techniques ECC/ICC levels 1-3, Emergency First Aid, the two new European Arborist qualifications, use of a mobile elevating work platform and assessor workshops. By the end of a very busy week a total of 60 skills assessments had been undertaken during the event, a number of these were carried out by the newly approved ABA assessors under supervision to a very high standard. Further assessor training events will take place throughout 2016.

GA 2015 - Austria

GA Austria 2015

ABA’s annual General Assembly was recently held in Vienna, Austria with new members present, reports & discussion on continuing progress on new qualification developments and votes taken on one agenda item. Project updates & reviews of current research activities were presented & discussed. New awarding bodies/vet centres trainers are undergoing training & evaluation to meet the ABA International standards for skills assessors. During the GA, quality assurance and assessment standards were discussed and progress reviewed.

The next ABA International assessor training events currently confirmed are as follows:

  • Great Britain - December 2015
  • Romania - April 2016
  • Denmark - June 2016
  • Czech Republic -September 2016
  • Italy-November 2016
