1.10.2019September was a busy month for ABA due to our involvement in two new projects. The first of these saw the kick-off meeting held in Czech Republic for the Euro Skills Trainer Register (ESTER) project.

1.7.2019The last week in June proved to be a very busy time for ABA trainers & assessors at the latest international event held in the Baltic state of Latvia. A combination of workshops and meetings covered skills activities in forestry, machinery and arboricultural operations with a large number of participants involved.

29.4.2019ABA Verifiers returned to Ireland recently to validate testing procedures in the new development of forest machine operations. Discussions on draft International/European standards and potential implementation across states were very positive with future plans in other countries established.

3.2.2019Technical update training took place for ABA machinery assessors in the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District-England. In-depth manufacturers training followed by ABA evaluations to new International/European standards for the safe operation of woodchippers and stump grinders hosted by the ABA Lake District Centre.

31.1.2019ABA verifiers and expert group members recently undertook observations and evaluations of forest machinery operations in preparation for a potential new project in this field of activity. Discussions involved current practices and training standards including investigations of potential hazards to operators.
